Avengers: Endgame BEATS Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ box office record; become highest opener in America

We revealed to you how Avengers: Endgame had taken a massive start in North America. The movie released on April 26, but even before that, the Marvel superhero movie had earned Rs 350 crore through paid-preview (held on April 25). On day 1 (April 26), Avengers: Endgame released in a record 4600 plus screens across America. And after experiencing near housefull shows, it raked in Rs 700 crore at the North American box office. With that, Avengers: Endgame has Rs 1050 crore in its kitty at the end of the opening day. This enabled the movie to shatter Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ box office record and become the highest opener in America ever.

Don’t believe us? Well let us tell you that Star Wars: The Force Awakens had raked in Rs 840 crore on day 1 in America, when it released in 2015. Avengers: Endgame‘s day 1 box office collection of RS 1050 crore in North America is higher than this! Clearly, the Marvel superhero film has shattered the biggest record of all time. We now expect it to continue raking in the moolah and post a massive total over the opening weekend. From our reckoning, it could be even more than Rs 2100 crore. What’s your take?
