badla beats pink amitabh bachchan taapsee pannu highest opener at the box office

Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu’s Badla has had an impressive opening. The Sujoy Ghosh-directorial has been appreciated by the critics as well as the audience. In fact, being Amitabh and Taapsee’s second film together, a lot of people had high expectations. And looks like it has surpassed all of them. Several netizens have mentioned how they have loved Badla more than Pink. But how do the two films compare at the box office? Well, looks like Badla has beaten Pink on day 1 at the domestic ticket window, thereby becoming the jodi’s highest opener yet!

For those of you who don’t know, let us tell you that Badla opened well and raked in Rs 5.04 crore at the box office on day 1. This is slightly more than the Rs 4.32 crore that Pink managed on the opening day. The fact that both the films had a limited release and similar buzz does make the comparisons pretty valid. In fact, both the movies had released in 900 – 1,000 screens. Both of them had average starts, but got fantastic word-of-mouth publicity! So clearly, Badla has outperformed Pink. But it is following the same path that the former took at the box office.

With such phenomenal word-of-mouth publicity and the fact that Pink saw such a huge gain in momentum at the box office post the first weekend, you can expect Badla to have a fantastic run at the box office too. Pink managed to rake in Rs 65 crore in its lifetime run. Will Badla go a step further and rake in more than Rs 75 crore? Well, to know that and more stay tuned to CineBlitz.
