Badla box office collection day 1: Amitabh Bachchan – Taapsee Pannu’s film performs above expectations; earns Rs 5.04 crore

Amitabh Bachchan – Taapsee Pannu’s Badla hit the screens yesterday (March 08). And as we mentioned, the movie started off well with an opening occupancy of 30 per cent. But we didn’t expect that Badla would spring up a massive numbers on its day 1 at the Box Office. Yes, the thriller has surprised us all by performing above expectations as it raked in Rs 5.04 crore at the box office yesterday. After the start it got and the limited release, our trade expert had predicted it to earn Rs 3 crore on the opening day. But it has earned way more than that! Clearly, Badla is punching above its weight and we are quite happy!

Badla‘s opening day collection has obviously benefited from the buzz as well as the fantastic word of mouth. Ever since the movie hit the screens, fans have been raving about it. In fact, they’ve called the movie a nail-biting, edge-of-the-seat thriller, a kind of movie that everyone loves to see! Netizens have also gushed about Amitabh Bachchan – Taapsee Pannu’s stellar performances and Sujoy Ghosh’s phenomenal screenplay. They even thanked Shah Rukh Khan for producing this film. All this positive feedback helped the film grow in the evening and late night shows. Thus, giving it higher footfalls and a larger collection at the box office.

With the word of mouth growing, we are sure more tickets will sell for Badla over the weekend. This will enable it to enjoy a really good opening weekend collection. We guess it should rake in Rs 15 – 20 crore over the first weekend. Considering its low budget and limited release (900 – 1000 screens), Badla‘s success would be impressive.
