Salman Khan’s Bharat released on Eid, June 5, and it had a fabulous start at the box office. Ahead of the film’s release there was a lot of talk about the movie’s business might getting affected by the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. In fact, with India playing its first match against South Africa on June 5 itself, everyone was skeptical of the film’s opening. While both trade experts and people thought Bharat‘s box office run would be impacted, the film’s day one collection says otherwise!
In fact, with India’s opening match being played on June 5, many trade experts predicted the Ali Abbas Zafar-directorial to earn around Rs 30 crores on day 1. But Salman Khan’s superstardom over-powered the fandom for cricket. And Bharat raked in Rs 42.30 crore on day 1! This makes it clear that India’s cricket fans were following the match, but many also stepped out to watch the movie.

India is a cricket crazy country; however, Bharat’s figures prove that they love Bollywood no less. Salman Khan’s superstardom along with his crackling chemistry with Katrina Kaif was a big draw. But the heart-warming and patriotic story of Bharat was well presented well by Ali Abbas Zafar. The movie got a wide release too. All this enabled the film to draw such amazing figures. It also helped it remain unaffected by India’s opening match against South Africa at the Cricket World Cup 2019.
