Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel is one of the most-exciting superhero movies of all time. Not only does it introduce one of the most powerful and key characters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but also hints at what is going to happen in the Avengers: Endgame. With so much excitement around the movie, it took a brilliant start at the box office. In fact, it broke all the previous records held by Marvel movies as it raked in Rs 12.75 crore at the box office on day 1. But that’s not it! It even outperformed this week’s Bollywood release – Taapsee Pannu’s Badla!
In fact, Captain Marvel has crushed Badla! How? While Captain Marvel managed to rake in Rs 12.75 crore at the box office, Badla earned Rs 5.04 crore. But then again, people will say it is an unfair comparison, right? Well, we have proof that the comparison isn’t unjust at all. First of all, the audience of both the film is same. As our trade expert – Akshaye Rathi exclusively revealed to us, “The audience for Badla also caters to Captain Marvel. Hence, there will be a divide, especially amongst the younger lot. It will be an interesting battle.”
Apart from the same audience, Badla and Captain Marvel even had a similar buzz and screen space. While the former released in 900 – 1,000 screens across India, the latter got 1,100 – 1,200 screens. Yes, the extra 100 – 200 screens and the franchise factor cannot be discounted and they did benefit Captain Marvel no doubt. So, it’s actually hardly surprising to see it earn more than double of Badla. Though Badla is a fantastic thriller, people have loved the production value and story of Captain Marvel more. Anyway, what do you guys have to say? Did you like Badla more or Captain Marvel? Share with us your reviews in the comments section below!
