Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Rakul Preet Singh’s De De Pyaar De was one of the most-exciting films of the month. A rom-com featuring stars like the ones we mentioned meant the buzz was high! However, looks like the film has not lived up to everyone’s expectations at the box office over the opening weekend. We were expecting De De Pyaar De to take a blazing start and cross the Rs 50 crore mark in its first weekend. But it has had a strictly decent run at the ticket window.

After raking in Rs 10.41 crore on day 1 (Friday, including paid previews on Thursday) and Rs 13.39 crore on day 2 (Saturday), De De Pyaar De continued its upward trend. But with minimal growth, it could only garner Rs 14.74 crore on day 3. And with that, the film managed to collect Rs 38.54 crore in its kitty over the first weekend. Looking at the current trends, we expect it to see a massive dip on day 4, first Monday. However, with an open week, it should rake in Rs 50 – 60 crore plus in its lifetime run at the box office.

In the meantime, check out our interview with Rakul Preet Singh post De De Pyaar De‘s release right here:

Produced by Luv Ranjan and directed by Akiv Ali, De De Pyaar De got mixed reviews. The word-of-mouth publicity was also low. But the fact that this was more a multiplex film, than a single screen one, impacted its collections. What do you have to say about De De Pyaar De?
