Sonam Kapoor – Rajkummar Rao – Anil Kapoor – Juhi Chawla’s Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga has been getting rave reviews from the critics. The people, who have seen it, are also appreciating it. However, looks like there are only a few takers for the movie. Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga had a decent buzz and after a slow start at the box office, we expected it to see a spike in the evening and late night shows. But that didn’t happen. Our trade expert – Akshaye Rathi (exhibitor and distributor) was bang on with his predictions, as the movie raked in Rs 3.30 crore on day 1.
Considering that Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga released in 1500 screens and has a niche subject, the movie has done decent business at the domestic market. But we did expect the good reviews and positive word of mouth publicity to give some better results. Then again, it was a working Friday and the majority of the audience for this kind of film must be working. They might go and watch Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga over the weekend. Thereby giving it a decent first weekend. But a growth is surely needed for the film to sustain at the box office!
Produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Fox Star Studios, the movie is about same sex relationships and marriages, which is a taboo in India. We wonder if people and society will accept this Shelly Chopra Dhar directorial. We hope they do! What’s your take on the movie? Share with us your thoughts in the comments section below!
