Alia Bhatt – Ranveer Singh’s Gully Boy took a phenomenal start at the box office on day 1. It raked in Rs 19.40 crore on the first day, giving it the perfect start it needed. Day 2, being a working Friday, saw a dip, with the film raking in just Rs 13.10 crore. But with the film garnering such good reviews, Gully Boy saw a considerable growth on day 3 again. It earned Rs 18.65 crore on Saturday, taking its overall box office tally to Rs 51.15 crore. Considering the movie has crossed the Rs 50 crore mark in just three days and Sunday is still kicking in, it’s a huge achievement.
With 3000 screens and such a fantastic word of mouth publicity, we are sure Ranveer Singh – Alia Bhatt’s Gully Boy will continue its magnificent run. Our trade expert – Akshaye Rathi (exhibitor and distributor) had mentioned that the movie will rake in Rs 70 – 75 crore over the first weekend. And looks like Gully Boy will surely cross the Rs 70 crore mark in the extended 4-day weekend. How it holds post day 5, the first Monday, will determine its lifetime collections. Directed by Zoya Akhtar, Gully Boy is produced by Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby Productions. It follows the heart-wrenching story of a guy (Ranveer Singh) from the streets. How his passion to become a rapper is not accepted by his parents, but he still follows his dream and becomes a huge sensations forms the rest of the story.
