Shahid Kapoor – Kiara Advani’s Kabir Singh is one of the most-exciting films of the year. The movie hit the screens yesterday (June 21) and started off with a bang. As we had told you, Kabir Singh recorded a huge opening occupancy, which only grew in the evening and late night shows. With that, the film managed to rake in a huge sum at the box office on day 1. And not only has it become Shahid Kapoor’s highest opener, but also the second highest opener for an adult-rated film in India. But how much has it earned?
Kabir Singh has raked in Rs 20.21 crore. This is massive considering the buzz and trade expectations predicted it to get a smaller opening. Industry expected it to have a Rs 8 – 15 crore opening, since it has an ‘Adults only’ certificate, but the film has surpassed all the expectations. Clearly, Shahid – Kiara’s film has impressed everyone, and so has their chemistry! The duo looks crackling on the big screen. The film is well-made and it has got good reviews from the audience as well as the critics. This has enabled a good word-of-mouth publicity to help it to grow over the first weekend. And with such a fantastic start, we feel Kabir Singh will rake in Rs 50 crore in the opening weekend.
Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Kabir Singh is the Hindi remake of Telugu hit, Arjun Reddy. What did you think about the movie? Share with us your thoughts about it in the comments section below! Also stay tuned to CineBlitz for more Bollywood news, updates and gossip right here.
