Shahid Kapoor in Kabir Singh

Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani’s Kabir Singh that released today (June 21) seems to have caught traction right from day one. South film Arjun Reddy’s Hindi remake Kabir Singh has started on a great note at the box office. According to trade analyst Amul Mohan the film has received the second biggest occupancy of the year and film is enroute to being one of the biggest openers of 2019. Film Exhibitor Akshaye Rathi also says that the film is Shahid’s big hit after a long time.

Talking to us exclusively, Amul said, “The movie has gotten the second biggest occupancies of the year, it is also on route to have one of the biggest openings of the year. The day one prediction looks like somewhere in the range of 18 to 19 crores which is phenomenal and if it hits that number it will be the highest number for a solo film for Shahid Kapoor.” According to Amul the film is one of those which have really worked and tracked very well in tier two cities. The advance booking was also spectacular, and this shows that if you make the right kind of content that connects to the masses, the classes and the heartland of the country, it will sail through without much of a problem.

Talking about the film, Akshaye Rathi said, “There are lots of places that are running house full, this is first time for a Shahid Kapoor film since R Raajkumar.” Akshaye also added how the success of the original film has helped the remake.
