Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra’s Kesari has been breaking records at the box office. However, in its first week, it did slow down too, in terms of collections as well as footfalls. On the second Friday, day 9, Kesari slipped further, raking in just Rs 4.45 crore at the box office. And with that, the total tally of Kesari now stands at Rs 110.31 crore. Though this is a decent amount of collection, the dip might leave the makers worried. In fact, with no competition in the form of a mega-release at the box office, we had expected it to hold fort.

However, with Notebook and Junglee not able to impress the audience or set the box office on fire with their collections, we expect Kesari to benefit. In fact, there is still a good word-of-mouth publicity happening for the movie. Everyone is raving about the brave story, the tremendous performances by Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra as well as the insane action sequences. This positivity will help the movie grow over the weekend. In fact, from what we figure, Zaheer Iqbal – Pranutan Bahl’s Notebook as well as Vidyut Jammwal’s Junglee won’t be able to compete with Kesari at the box office.

Check out the trailer of Kesari right here:

Looking at the current trend, the Anurag Singh-directorial should rake in Rs 125 crore plus at the domestic market. It remains to be seen how much money will it be able to rake in by the end of its lifetime run. In the meantime, what do you have to say about Kesari? Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Rakul Preet starrer De De Pyaar De released on May 16. The film was praised by the audience and also impressed the critics for its progressive storyline. The film is still in theatres and even after four weeks its running strong. In fact, it has crossed the 100 crore mark. Even with a big release, festival and the cricket world cup, the film is getting many footfalls. De De Pyaar De in the fourth week of its release earned Rs 4.13 crore. With its total box office collection the film has went on to be a hit.

Turns out that word of mouth has worked in the favour of the Ajay Devgn starrer and the film now stands with a total BO collection of Rs 101.14 crores. Eeven Salman Khan’s Bharat doesn’t seem to have affected De De Pyaar De’s business too much. With the film still in cinemas there is a possibility of more growth.

De De Pyaar De is a rom-com that shows a 50-year-old man falling in love with a 26-year-old girl and what happens when his family and ex-wife come into the pictures leaving many dynamics changing. Stay tuned to CineBlitz for more updates!

Salman Khan – Katrina Kaif’s Bharat has set the cash registers ringing ever since it released on Eid (June 05). The movie has smashed several records over the first weekend. And after a major dip on day 6 (first Monday), the movie has remained rock steady. In fact, on day 7, which was a working Tuesday, the film earned another Rs 8.30 crore, which is quite incredible. With that, Bharat has raked in a total of Rs 167.60 crore at the box office. According to current trends, it should hit the Rs 175 crore mark today (day 8, June 12).

While a lot was expected from Bharat, the Ali Abbas Zafar directorial has done well. In fact, considering that the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 is going on and India’s matches have affected the movie, Bharat has still managed to perform well at the box office. Salman – Katrina’s crackling chemistry as well as a heart-warming tale presented well by Ali Abbas Zafar helped the movie earn big bucks. Decent reviews from critics as well as the audience also helped. We are sure the movie will cross the Rs 200 crore mark in its lifetime run. But will it become 2019’s highest grosser? Well, time will tell!

Produced by Atul Agnihotri, Alvira Agnihotri, Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar under the banner of Reel Life Production Pvt Ltd. and Salman Khan Films, Bharat is presented by T-Series. Written and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the movie also stars Disha Patani, Sunil Grover, Tabu and Jackie Shroff. With the film continuing its box office run, stay tuned to CineBlitz for more news and updates about Bharat.

Salman Khan – Katrina Kaif’s Bharat was one of the most-awaited films of the year. And it proved its might as it released on June 5. In fact, after a massive opening, the movie raked in huge amounts to end the first weekend at the box office on a high. Bharat amassed Rs 150.10 crore over its extended 5-day opening weekend. With that, it crushed Akshay Kumar’s Kesari and became the second-highest opening weekend grosser of 2019. A look at the first weekend collection of the 2019 releases proves it!

Currently, Avengers: Endgame is the highest opening weekend grosser of 2019. The Marvel release earned Rs 157.20 crore over its three-day weekend. In second spot is Bharat with an opening weekend tally of Rs 150.10 crore. Kesari comes in third place with a first weekend collection of Rs 80 crore. Gully Boy (Rs 72.50 crore) and Kalank (Rs 63 crore) complete the list of top 5 opening weekend grossers of 2019 in India.

The fact that Bharat‘s opening weekend tally is nearly twice of third place Kesari is a huge deal. But we need to take into consideration that the Ali Abbas Zafar-directorial enjoyed an extended five-day opening weekend. Also, the Hollywood release – Avengers: Endgame still continues to be the highest first weekend grosser of 2019, even though it had a normal three-day weekend. Clearly, Bharat could’ve done better. Obviously, it was affected by India’s Cricket World Cup 2019 match against Australia on day 5. Or else, Bharat would’ve surely powered past Avengers: Endgame and that would’ve been massive! Stay tuned to CineBlitz for more updates on this front.
