Akshay Kumar’s Kesari is special to him for more reasons than one. Not only has the film won the actor so many good reviews, but it has also enabled him to break several box office records. We revealed to you how the movie was the highest opener of 2019. Let us tell you that now it is also the highest opening weekend grosser of 2019. But that’s not it! Kesari has managed to trump Gold to become Akshay Kumar’s highest first weekend grosser yet. Huge, isn’t it? Especially after it did not enjoy full holiday releases like his past films. Kesari released in Holi, which was a partial holiday. But it has still emerged as a record breaker.
If you look at the opening weekend collections of each Akshay Kumar release, you’ll realise what we are talking about! Kesari has bagged the top honours with an opening weekend collection of RS 78.07 crore. Up next are, Gold (Rs 70 crore) and Singh is Bliing (Rs 55 crore), which complete the podium spots. Housefull 3 (Rs 53 crore), Brothers (Rs 52 crore), Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (Rs 51.50 crore), Jolly LLB 2 (Rs 50.50 crore), Rustom (Rs 50 crore), Rowdy Rathore (Rs 48 crore), Airlift (Rs 44 crore) complete the top 10 highest first weekend grosser for Akshay Kumar.
