We all know, Salman Khan is producing Pranutan Bahl and Zaheer Khan-starrer Notebook under his banner- Salman Khan Films. The upcoming film which is slated to release tomorrow (March 29) is a unique romantic tale of a guy and girl, who have never met. Going by reports it is being said that Notebook might be an official adaptation of the Thai film Teacher’s Diary, with the initial reviews we hear that the film is quite intriguing. Directed by Nitin Kakkar, Notebook marks the debut of Zaheer Iqbal and Pranutan Bahl (Mohnish Bahl’s daughter). Set in Kashmir, it has many exciting elements. So we are sure Notebook will be a treat to watch. But have you thought, how much will it rake in at the box office?

To know that and more, we rang up our trade expert – Akshaye Rathi (exhibitor and distributor), who mentioned how the film will have a good opening. Talking about the buzz, Akshaye reveals to us exclusively, “I feel Notebook is interesting. It is a romantic movie and the USP of the film is its music and story. Though the buzz is low, let’s hope it catches on and appeals them to cinemas in good numbers.” Releasing in 800 to 900 screens, Notebook has opted for a niche release. But Akshaye predicts, “It should collect Rs 1.50 – 2 crores at the box office on day one.” This would be a very decent number for a film with newcomers and limited screens.

Check out the trailer of Notebook right here:

Notebook’s songs have struck a chord with the audience and we are sure people like the film’s album. Our reviewer – Aakanksha Naval-Shetye was impressed by the film, especially with Zaheer Iqbal and Pranutan’s romantic tale and chemistry. Interestingly, Notebook is clashing with Vidyut Jammwal’s Junglee, which is also said to be quite impressive. We wonder which one will come out on top. Kalank Box Office Collection Day 4: Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt’s period drama sees a drop

Directed by Abhishek Varman, the film released on April 17 and had a great start at the box office

KALANK

Dharma Productions magnum opus Kalank released this Wednesday (April 17). The film was one of the most anticipated and the makers left no stone unturned to increase the excitement. The film opened to a massive amount of Rs 21.60 crore on day 1 and became the highest opener of the year, but seems like the streak is not maintained. The fourth-day collection has seen a drop, but the overall collection is good with Rs 54.40 crore.

Directed by Abhishek Varman, Kalank had the advantage of a long weekend (with public holidays). Yesterday (April 20), the collections have dropped down to Rs 9.75 crore, which is Rs 1.85 crore less than day three. Day three saw the film earn Rs 11.60 crore. Day two was Rs 11.45 crore. While it is a Sunday today, let us see how much the film rakes in. Considering the film is made on a huge budget, we were assuming for it to make Rs 100 crores on its first weekend, but that seems a bit impossible. However, let us see what business Kalank does today.

Kalank stars Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Sanjay Dutt, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sonakshi Sinha in pivotal parts. Stay tuned to CineBlitz for more box office updates about the film.

Kalank box office collection day 3: Varun – Alia’s film fails to cross the Rs 50 crore mark

Kalank box office collection day 3: Varun Dhawan – Alia Bhatt’s period drama fails to see a massive jump even on a partial holiday!

Varun Dhawan – Alia Bhatt’s Kalank was one of the most-anticipated films of the year. In fact, the buzz was so high, that even on a partially-working Wednesday (Mahavir Jayanti), the period drama opened to a collection of Rs 21.60 crore on April 17. However, it failed to live up to everyone’s expectations. In fact, it saw a massive decline on day 2, raking in just Rs 11.45 crore. With day 3 being another partial holiday (Good Friday), everyone expected Kalank to see an upward trend. However, it could rake in just Rs 11.60 crore. With that, the film failed to cross the Rs 50 crore mark in the first three days, which everyone expected it to!

The trade is stunned! Day 3 being a partial holiday, everyone expected it to see an upward trend, but it failed to grow. The period drama just remained steady. Now only a fantastic Saturday and Sunday can help Kalank boost the numbers. This is because of the fact that the movie was made on a massive budget of Rs 150 crore (cost of production and publicity and advertising cost). With such a huge investment, the movie should ideally make in excess of Rs 200 crore at the box office to break even, but it looks difficult. Kalank won’t even touch the Rs 100 crore mark over the extended 5-day opening weekend.

Check out the Kalank public review right here:

Directed by Abhishek Varman, Kalank got mixed reviews from the critics. But the audience did like it, and hence, everyone expected it to perform well at the box office. Let’s hope it recovers over the weekend and posts a respectable total. In the meantime, share with us your review of the Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit-starrer in the comments section below! Kalank box office collection day 3 early estimates: Varun, Alia, Sonakshi, Aditya’s film sees a slight upward trend

Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur’s Kalank continues its run at the box office!

Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt’s Kalank released on April 17 (Wednesday). It instantly opened to a humongous collection of Rs 21.60 crore on a partial holiday (Mahavir Jayanti) on day 1. Day 2, being a working Thursday, saw a huge decline, as the film raked in only Rs 11.45 crore. But there’s nothing to worry about, as on day 3, according to early estimates, Kalank has seen a slight upward trend. In fact, from trade reports, we hear that Abhishek Varman’s period drama has earned somewhere between Rs 12 – 14 crore on day 3. This means, Kalank will have raked in Rs 47.05 crore (approximate estimate) at the box office within three days.

Obviously, again day 3 was a partial holiday (Good Friday) and hence, Kalank saw an upward trend. And while the figure is decent, the movie missed out on crossing the Rs 50 crore mark. A lot was expected from the film, especially with the grandeur, screenplay and star-cast. The audience reactions were also decent and the word-of-mouth publicity managed to stir the audience to go and watch the movie. However, it needs to see a massive upward trend over the weekend to be able to become a profitable film at the box office!

Check out the Kalank public review right here:

From what we hear, the budget of Kalank (cost of production and publicity cost) is Rs 150 crore. So it needs to earn much more to break even at the box office. We expect it to collect at least Rs 80 – 85 crore over the extended five-day weekend. But how much will it earn in the lifetime run? That remains to be seen. In the meantime, share with us your review of the film in the comments section below! Also stay tuned to CineBlitz as we get you all the news, updates and gossip about Kalank right here.
