Ranveer Singh beats Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan to become the highest grossing actor of 2018

The year started with a bang for Ranveer Singh at the box office as he scored his first hit of 2018 with Padmaavat. And if that wasn’t enough, he ended the year on an even higher note with Simmba. The two films have seen him race past all the ruling Khans – Salman, Shah Rukh, and Aamir, to rule the box office in 2018. But the change in order doesn’t end there. In what’s probably a first of sorts, Ayushmann Khurrana has ridden his way on good content to make a spot in the top five. Films like Zero and Thugs of Hindostan that sank at the box office also robbed the stars of their spots on this list, which was unheard of in the past. Let’s check out who did make it to the top five in 2018!

# Ranveer Singh – Rs 500* crore

Padmaavat and Simmba ensured that Ranveer earns the first spot on the list of the highest grossing actors of 2018. His performances, plus the high entertainment quotient of the films worked wonders, and the actor is ruling both, the audiences’ hearts as well as the box-office coffers.

# Akshay Kumar – Rs 375 crore

The hit machine had Padman and 2.0 to claim as hits, while Gold disappointed at the box office. Nevertheless, the actor had a successful run and he’s at the second spot.

# Ranbir Kapoor – Rs 342 crore

Sanju catapulted Ranbir Kapoor into becoming a part of this list. Ranbir’s success can be credited to a much-looked forward to biopic, topped with one of his best performances. With just one film in 2018, he’s covered the distance to make it at number three.

# Shahid Kapoor – Rs 330 crore

The actor had a hit in Padmaavat and a dud in Batti Gul Meter Chaalu. But a lack of resistance from any of the other stars is also what helped the actor make it to the list at fourth spot.

# Ayushmann Khurrana – Rs 200 crore

The surprise package of the year, Ayushmann, has not blindly followed the stars to this list, but has ridden high on good content. Andhadhun and Badhaai Ho make the cut as hits and spell number five on the list for the actor.
