Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh is the highest opening weekend grosser for an adult Bollywood film

Shahid Kapoor – Kiara Advani’s Kabir Singh got a slightly restricted release because it was an ‘adults only’ film. The movie released in just 3100 screens. However, that did not stop it from raking in the moolah at the box office. In fact, it collected a massive Rs 70.83 crore over the first weekend. And with that, it achieved a huge record. Yes, Kabir Singh is now the highest opening weekend grosser for an adult Bollywood film! The Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial beat the likes of Satyameva Jayate and Veere Di Wedding to achieve this feat!

If we look at the first weekend collections of all the adult Bollywood releases, it is seen that Kabir Singh is currently the highest first weekend grosser for a Bollywood adult movie with a 3-day collection of Rs 70.83 crore. Grand Masti holds the second place with a collection of Rs 40 crore, with Satyameva Jayate (Rs 37.50 crore) in third place. Veere Di Wedding (Rs 36.50 crore), Raaz 3 (Rs 35 crore), The Dirty Picture (Rs 32 crore), Shootout at Wadala (Rs 30 crore), Hate Story 3 (Rs 27 crore), Ragini MMS 2 (Rs 25 crore), Murder 2 (Rs 22.50 crore) complete the list of top 10 highest first weekend grosser for Bollywood adult movies.

Considering that Kabir Singh had only a decent buzz, a limited release and scathing reviews from a few critics, it has performed very well. All this has been possible because of the audience’s love.
