Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani’s Kabir Singh is off to a fantastic start at the box office. After taking an opening much higher than expected, it has also beaten several other films on day 1. Shahid – Kiara’s film crushed the day 1 collections of Ranveer Singh – Alia Bhatt’s Gully Boy too. And with that, it became the fourth-highest opener of 2019. Take a look at the opening day collections of all the Bollywood releases of 2019 and you’ll know what we are talking about!
Currently, Bharat is the highest Bollywood opener of 2019, with a day collection of Rs 42.30 crore. Kalank (Rs 21.60 crore) and Kesari (Rs 21.06 crore) follow suit, completing the top three openers of 2019. Kabir Singh has positioned itself at the fourth spot with Rs 20.21 crore opening day collection. Gully Boy (Rs 19.40 crore), Total Dhamaal (Rs 16.50 crore), Student of the Year 2 (Rs 12.06 crore), De De Pyaar De (Rs 10.41 crore), Uri: The Surgical Strike (Rs 8.20 crore), Luka Chuppi (Rs 8 crore) complete the top 10 highest Bollywood openers of 2019.
Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Kabir Singh has been well-appreciated by the audience as well as the critics. With a decent buzz and word-of-mouth publicity, we are sure it will grow over the weekend. But will it enter the top 5 opening weekend grossers of 2019? Well, we’ll have to wait and watch.
