Tiger Shroff, Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria’s Student of the Year 2 has slowed down at the box office. After taking a brilliant start and a decent weekend, SOTY 2 is heading downwards in the first week. On day 6, finally the movie managed to cross the Rs 50 crore mark. Trade had expected the film to go past the 50 crore mark in 4 days initially. However, until day 5 the film struggled to earn Rs 50 crores or more. But on day 6, Student of the Year 2 raked in Rs 4.51 crore at the box office. And with that, it took its overall box office total to Rs 53.88 crore.
Being the sequel to Student of the Year (2012) and with stars like Tiger Shroff, Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria, the buzz and expectations were huge. However, SOTY 2 failed to match up. In fact, it got mixed reviews from the critics as well as the audience. And with that, the movie only managed decent collections. With De De Pyaar De (May 16) and John Wick 3 (May 17) releasing, we are sure the film’s run will be affected. Looking at the current trends, we expect it to rake in Rs 60 – 70 crore in its lifetime run.
