Anupam Kher’s controversial movie, The Accidental Prime Minister, has hit the silver screens across India and looks like it has taken a very decent opening. Though the morning occupancies were poor on the first day, we hear that the movie saw a rise in footfalls and raked in Rs 4.50 crores on day 1 at the domestic box office. Considering the scale of release, the disruptment of several shows and the low buzz, we guess The Accidental Prime Minister has performed well. In fact, with people starting to talk about the film and rave about Kher’s act, we are sure the word-of-mouth publicity will improve and thereby, help increase the number of footfalls too.

The fact that a debate is bound to start after people watch The Accidental Prime Minister, will also aid in giving a boost to the box office collections. Going by our calculations, we guess the movie can easily make Rs 12 – 15 crores over the first weekend. Considering that it was made on a water-tight budget, The Accidental Prime Minister can earn a decent profit by the end of its lifetime run. Tell us, do you also feel this one is Anupam Kher’s best performance till date? Share with us your thoughts in the comments section below!

Directed by Vijay Gutte and based on a book of the same name by Sanjaya Baru, The Accidental Prime Minister revolves around the tenure of former PM Manmohan Singh, especially during the UPA -II phase, during which several scams were exposed. The movie has got decent reviews, now it needs to be seen how well it survives! Anyway, stay tuned to Cine Blitz as we get you all the dope from the world of Bollywood right here.
