Total Dhamaal box office collection day 1: Ajay Devgn – Madhuri Dixit – Anil Kapoor’s film earns Rs 16.50 crore

Ajay Devgn – Madhuri Dixit – Anil Kapoor’s Total Dhamaal released yesterday and it took a fantastic start. Recording a 40 per cent occupancy across 3,400 plus screens across India, the movie saw a growth in terms of footfalls by the end of the end. This enabled the movie to rake in Rs 16.50 crore at the domestic box office on day 1. Considering it was a non-holiday release with a decent buzz, we can say that Total Dhamaal is off to a flying start! In fact, it is now Ajay’s highest non-holiday opener, which is phenomenal. It is also director Indra Kumar’s highest opener till date.

Our trade expert, Akshaye Rathi (exhibitor and distributor) had predicted that the Ajay Devgn-starrer would rake in Rs 12 – 14 crore at the box office on the opening day. And looks like it has performed above everyone’s expectations. This might be due to the fantastic word-of-mouth publicity that the movie received. Movie-goers have been raving about Total Dhamaal on the road, as well as on social media. Apart from the funny storyline, Ajay Devgn’s swag and Anil Kapoor – Madhuri Dixit-Nene’s chemistry and antics are being loved too. With so much love and appreciation we are sure the film is heading for a fantastic first weekend collection.

According to Akshaye, Total Dhamaal can easily rake in Rs 40 crore plus over the first weekend, especially with no big competition.
