Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam’s Uri: The Surgical Strike hit the screens yesterday (January 12) and it’s taken a flying start. Though the morning show occupancies very decent, the film saw a spike in the evening and late night shows courtesy the fantastic word-of-mouth publicity. This enabled Uri to collect Rs 8.20 crore at the domestic box office on day 1. Though this is not a huge number, considering the fact that it is January and the film was released in a limited screen-space, Uri: The Surgical Strike has opened very well at the ticket window.

From what we hear, the word-of-mouth publicity, as well as footfalls are getting stronger. People have been raving about the movie, its screenplay, the performances as well as the action sequences. So expect Uri: The Surgical Strike to see a decent growth over the weekend. With such a fantastic start, the movie can easily rake in Rs 25 – 30 crore at the domestic box office over the first weekend. What do you have to say about this? Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani’s Kabir Singh is one of the most-interesting movies this year. And ever since it hit the screens on June 21, the film has been unstoppable. After a fantastic opening, it set the box office on fire and raked in a whopping amount to end the first weekend on a high. In fact, it has beaten the likes of Salman Khan’s Bharat and Ajay Devgn’s De De Pyaar De on Sunday too. Now that’s huge numbers, especially with Kabir Singh being an ‘Adults only’ movie.

For those of you who don’t know, Kabir Singh opened with a collection of Rs 20.21 crore on day 1. On day 2, it grew and raked in Rs 22.71 crore. But it was day 3, which saw the maximum growth. Kabir Singh saw housefull shows in major cinemas across India and collected Rs 27.91 crore. With that, it now has Rs 70.83 crore in its kitty at the end of the opening weekend, which is massive! Considering that the film had a decent buzz and only 3,100 screens to its disposal, Kabir Singh has performed beyond expectations.

Trade had predicted that Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani’s film would rake in Rs 30 – 50 crore in the first weekend. And even though some scathing comments and reviews were put out about Kabir Singh, the film has performed phenomenally well. Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani starrer Kabir Singh released this Friday (June 21). The film has been quite well-received by the audience as well as the critics. With its first day collection the film opened to impressive figures and also turned out to be the fourth biggest opener of the year. Earning Rs 20. 21 crores on day one, Shahid’s film seems to be on a victory march.  Yesterday (June 22) which was the film’s second day at the box office; Kabir Singh surpassed the day one collection and earned Rs 22.71 crores.

The film’s total collection stands at Rs 42.92 crore and the speed with which this film is leaving the cash registers ringing, feels like it will cross the 50 crore mark today (June 23) which is also its first Sunday at the box-office. Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani’s Kabir Singh is off to a fantastic start at the box office. After taking an opening much higher than expected, it has also beaten several other films on day 1. Shahid – Kiara’s film crushed the day 1 collections of Ranveer Singh – Alia Bhatt’s Gully Boy too. And with that, it became the fourth-highest opener of 2019.
