Vicky Kaushal, Yami Gautam, Paresh Rawal and Mohit Raina-starrer Uri: The Surgical Strike is all set to enter the Rs 200 crore club at the domestic box office. The film, which released on January 11, is currently ruling the ticket windows and how! Despite getting normal reviews from critics, Uri has managed to fare exceptionally well, not just in India, but overseas too. In fact, at the worldwide box office, the Vicky Kaushal-starrer is slowly heading towards the Rs 300 crore mark, which is phenomenal considering the film has been made on a budget of Rs 25 – 30 crore.
Coming back to the Indian box office, Uri has earned Rs 197.88 crore so far. After a fantastic fourth weekend, the movie has had a steady fourth week, raking in more than Rs 2 crore on each day. And with Uri: The Surgical Strike set to add more than Rs 2 crore once again on day 28, we are it will breach the Rs 200 crore barrier tomorrow (February 07). It will make the Aditya Dhar-directorial the first mid-budget film to achieve this feat. Huge, isn’t it? The josh is most certainly high! And Vicky must be on cloud nine as Uri gave him his first Rs 100 crore and Rs 200 crore movie.
Though Kangana Ranaut’s ambitious project Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi currently running in theatres along with Sonam Kapoor’s unusual love story Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, they haven’t really affected Uri’s business at the box office. In fact, it’s the other way round. Both Manikarnika and Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga are finding it tough to survive because of Uri: The Surgical Strike’s fantastic run at the box office. Anyway, stay tuned to Cine Blitz for more Uri updates.

Kalank box office collection: Alia, Varun, Sonakshi, Aditya’s film sees a drastic drop on day 2
Kalank box office collection day 2: Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt plunges at the ticket window!
Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt’s Kalank took a fantastic opening on day 1. Raking in Rs 21.60 crore, the movie became the highest opener of 2019. However, it saw a drastic drop at the box office on day 2. Yes, the period drama could only manage to rake in Rs 11.45 crore on the second day! If you calculate, you will realise that the movie saw a decline of nearly 50 per cent in collections, which is a cause for concern. Though the two-day collection of Kalank stands at Rs 33.05 crore, which is decent, the dip is alarming!
Obviously, the working Thursday caused Kalank to plunge at the box office. But a partial Good Friday holiday on day 3 (today, April 19) will enable it to capitalise and regain its momentum at the box office. We expect it to earn anywhere between Rs 15 – 20 crore on day 3. With that Kalank might be able to cross the Rs 50 crore mark in just three days. But will it be able to rake in Rs 100 crore plus at the box office in the extended five-day weekend? Well, that remains to be seen. In the meantime, share your thoughts with us about the dip in collections in the comments section below!
Also, check out the Kalank public review right here:
Directed by Abhishek Varman, Kalank has got decent reviews from the audience. But the mixed reviews from the critics is an area of concern! But then again, we are sure the positive word-of-mouth publicity and the fact that there are no other films running in theatres, will make movie-goers go and see the movie. However, we will have to keep an eye on the film’s progress! So stay tuned to CineBlitz for more Bollywood news, gossip and updates.
Kalank box office collection day 2: Varun – Alia’s film sees a massive decline, according to early estimates
Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt’s Kalank saw a massive dip on Day 2 at the box office!
Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt’s Kalank took a massive start on Day 1. In fact, by raking in Rs 21.60 crore on the opening day, the period drama became the highest box office opener of 2019. It also became Alia and Varun‘s biggest box office opener till date. However, looks like the movie could not maintain the initial euphoria at the ticket window. Kalank, according to early estimates, has seen a massive decline at the box office!
From what we hear, Kalank has managed to earn only Rs 10 – 11 crore on Day 2, taking its overall box office tally to Rs 32.60 crore (approximate estimate). Sure, this is a decent collection for the first two days, especially with the movie being released on a Wednesday. However, the period drama has declined by more than 50 per cent, which is concerning. Obviously, it was a working Thursday and hence, we expected to see a dip. But we never expected Kalank to crash like this! What’s your take on the whole scenario? Share with us your thoughts in the comments section below!

We surely expect Kalank to bounce back over the extended weekend. But with it faltering on Day 2, we wonder if it will rake in Rs 100 crore over the extended weekend or not? Well, we’ll have to wait and watch! For now, the word-of-mouth publicity will surely help it capitalise and regain momentum at the box office. In the meantime, stay tuned to CineBlitz for more Bollywood news, gossip and updates!

Varun Dhawan’s Kalank is one of his biggest films. It hit the screens yesterday (April 17) and instantly set the cash registers ringing. The movie raked in a massive Rs 21.60 crore at the box office on day 1. Huge, isn’t it? Well, with that, it became the highest opener of 2019 and Alia Bhatt’s highest opener till date.
