Most of the films that released in January 2019 failed to pack a solid punch. However, Vicky Kaushal’s Uri: The Surgical Strike was the only one that actually stormed the box office. Though Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi is also faring well at the ticket windows, it hasn’t broken any records so far. On the other hand, Aditya Dhar’s directorial venture has surprised everyone. It already became the first blockbuster of 2019. But that’s not it! URI has now also become the first medium budget film to enter the Rs 200 crore club. The fact that it has done it in just 28 days is quite an achievement, right?

So far Uri: The Surgical Strike has collected Rs 200.07 crore in India, which is mighty impressive. In fact, the movie is currently in its fourth week. What’s commendable is the fact that it has been consistently raking in over Rs 2 crore in its fourth week. That’s not all! Vicky’s film has achieved one more milestone today. The military drama has broken the fourth-week record of biggies like Dangal, Sanju, PK, Taare Zameen Par, Sultan, Padmaavat and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. And with hardly any competition at the moment, we are pretty sure URI will break few more records before it finally ends its run in the theatres.

Vicky Kaushal, who has delivered a solid performance in the film, has now become a huge star overnight. The talented actor will next be seen in Karan Johar’s multi-starrer venture Takht alongside Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Anil Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor. For now, he is enjoying all the attention and appreciation coming his way which we think is rightly deserved. In the meantime, stay tuned to Cine Blitz as we get you all the updates from the world of Bollywood right here.
