The second week of the new year saw two film releases, URI: The Surgical Strike and The
Accidental Prime Minister. URI being the first big release of the year 2019, might also turn
out to be Vicky Kaushal’s 100 Cr club entry, as the central character of a film. The Accidental
Prime Minister is doing well for itself.

URI, on the very first day of its release went ahead to make unbelievable numbers at the
Box Office, earning Rs 8.20 Cr on Friday, which was more than expected. The movie went
ahead and shocked everyone with its second day collection of Rs 12.43 Cr, on Saturday.
Maintaining its streak, URI on Sunday earned Rs 15.10 Cr, making the total weekend
collection Rs 35.73 Cr, which was massive and unbelievable for everyone. And now looking
at the first week, we can predict that the film might easily enter the 100 Cr club.

The Accidental Prime Minister, though not breaking records, is doing good numbers
considering its modest budget of Rs. 22 Cr. The film on its first day earned Rs 3.4 Cr, went a
step ahead with Rs 4 Cr on Saturday, but didn’t see much of a high on Sunday and earned
just Rs 4.5 Cr, making a total of Rs 11.9 Cr in the first week. The film might not turn out to be
huge, but it looks like it will recover its production cost.

The stats make it probable that URI will be the first hit film of the year and Vicky’s entry to
the 100 Cr club, if the pace of earning and the Box Office returns keep growing, or even if it
maintains the same. With The Accidental Prime Minister, though we see a mixed response,
and the Box Office earnings are small but steady.
Let us know in the comments below, which of the two films you liked.
