Lakme Fashion Week 2019: Mouni Roy, Vidya Balan turn showstoppers on day 3 – View Pics

Day 3 at the Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2019 was a fashion extravaganza with great collections and stunning showstoppers walking the runway. We are super excited to see what’s coming out on the ramps in 2019. Here are the lovely showstoppers who sizzled on the catwalk today.

# Vidya Balan for AANAVILA

Balan was dressed in a black and gold sari with some gold border and some gold motifs on the pallu. Keeping her look simple Balan had her hair tied up into a pony tail with a side part. Delicate gold accessories showing off her smokey eyes with nude lip completed her look for the evening. Designer Anavila Misra’s collection is inspired by the culture and diversity of the Sa Pa tribes of Vietnam. The handcrafted and woven collection has saris and laidback dresses in light materials like cotton, linen and silk with beautiful pleating, cording and embroidery. The collection is also eco-friendly, as they use 100 percent natural dyes and colours.

# Geeta Phogat and Sayani Gupta for EKA

Geeta Phogat came out of the cheering audience all smiles and walked the ramp and showcased a piece from designer Rina Singh’s collection EKA. The collection was themed- ‘Post Cards from The Summer’. Dressed in subtle pastel hues from the collection, Geeta showcased the breezy Indian piece with a quirky modern twist and a rolled up salwar. Sayani Gupta walked out in a flowing and breezy pastel skirt with a lacey spaghetti top with a pop of coral giving it the blushed summer feel. The make-up was all natural with blue and coral eyes and a nude lip. The hair was plaited and braided with strips of cloth giving movement as she walked the ramp. The collection was best described as summer with breezy blouses, maxi laidback dresses, lots of layered pieces in beautiful pastel hues of blues, pinks, beige and white. This was the designer’s homage to the real women of India.

# Kubbra Sait and Ahana Kumra for Gazal Mishra

Kubra Sait and Ahana Kumra debuted on the LFW runway for designer Gazal Mishra’s collection titled Ateeba. Kubbra donned a voluminous half-sleeved Anarkali dress with pulled back hair and minimal natural makeup. Aahana was all smiles as she donned a scallop-edged crop top teamed with a voluminous lehenga and a dupatta. While Kubbra was the show opener, Aahana walked towards the end of the show. Both ladies were rendered beautiful in white embroidered ensembles.

Designer Gazal Mishra showcased her collection titled Ateeba that featured a delicate play of pastel palette coupled with hand embroideries. Each piece boasted of fine craftsmanship along with extensive development of traditional hand embroidery techniques. Composed of natural fibers and fluid in shape, the collection is handmade.

# Divya Khosla Kumar for Parvathi Dasari

Divya Khosla Kumar stunned on the runway in a bright pink-magenta silk saree from the designer’s handloom collection. The look was completed with sleek pulled-back braided hair with a sindoor-adorned centre-parting and glossy makeup. The collection titled ‘Tropical Paradise’ drew its inspiration from the tropical jungle with the serene yet striking representation of animals including elephants, ducks and parrots. The vintage yet contemporary saree ensembles, all in pure zari featured beautiful silhouettes handwoven by the weavers. The colour palette featured bright jewel hues in reds, pinks, blues and greens with softer shades.

# Kriti Kharbanda for Sukriti and Aakriti

Kriti Kharbanda walked the ramp for designer sister duo Sukriti and Aakriti yesterday.  Kriti was dressed as a boho bride, fitting right in with the theme of the collection-“Rustic Boutonniere”. Kriti donned a stunning brown-gold creation that featured a lehenga featuring a cropped blouse and a voluminous lehenga and a ruffled dupatta completed with a mathapatti. The collection was inspired by bohemian destination weddings. The duo gave the botanical trend an ethnic spin by using Mughal prints.

# Mouni Roy for Payal Singhal

Gold actress Mouni Roy sizzled on the runway as she walked the ramp for Payal Singhal at LFW. Mouni wore a Mughal-inspired, heavily embroidered lehenga in rustic gold, with pink and navy blue work on it. The outfit was completed with a soft military-green dupatta all tied together with a belly chain perfectly showing of Mouni’s skinny waist. Mouni’s hair was done in big voluminous girls in a centre part with natural makeup. Singhal explored the historic journey of Indian art and its cultural influences along the Silk Route, and showcase how creativity is not bound by boundaries or borders.
