Soni Razdan and Alia Bhatt are easily the cutest mother-daughter duo in Bollywood. The Bhatt girl has given back-to-back hits and is currently riding high on the success of her last release Gully Boy. In the film, Alia delivered a dumdaar performance and was lauded for the same by everyone. No wonder, her mommy dearest is super proud of her achievements. While Alia is gearing up to wow the audience once again with her upcoming film Kalank, team CineBlitz, on the other hand, sat down with Soni Razdan for a quick chat about her daughter and here’s what she revealed.

How do you feel about Alia being on her own and navigating through the perils of life?

Alia has been living on her own for quite some time now. Initially, it was like an experiment for both of us. I think she was learning how to deal with running a house, and I was learning how to live without her in mine. Tough! But I think she has managed brilliantly and is also lucky to have a wonderful staff and also me just down the road! About navigating the perils of life, honestly, she does that exceedingly well, and I’m delighted with how she manages her time and fits in so many things into her day, as well as how she is so balanced in her day-to-day life. Only, sometimes I get a bit concerned about whether or not she’s eating enough food or getting enough rest, and that’s the only time I get involved.

Alia in her interview has talked about you being a good cook and has said she wants to learn cooking from you. What is her favourite food?
Alia’s taste in food is basic and simple. She’s a dal, sabzi, roti person basically. She loves aloo bhindi, red pumpkin bhaji, and moong dal halwa as well as the food that I make during Christmas, which is a traditional Christmas fare. She also likes pastas and soups and so on.

And lastly, she is finally being directed by her father. What do you have to say about that?
Yes, isn’t that wonderful? More than anything, I’m glad that she will get a chance to experience the brilliant director that her father is, and be touched by his magic on set. She will benefit greatly I feel from his unique touch. Also, the kind of characters that she is picking up to play, are very strong women, like they used to be in Bhatt Saab’s films. She is blessed in that way. She has come into an industry that is now writing these great parts for women, and she has the talent to be able to shine in such roles.

We even got to talk about what she fears most about Alia to which the 62-year-old revealed that she always worries about Alia getting hurt. Alia, according to mum Soni, is clumsy and often ends up injuring herself. So she just hopes that Alia is safe all the time. Well, this shows how strong their bond is even when Alia is busy working all the time and has moved out of her parent’s house.
