The entertainment industry must have evolved and many new things are happening. But, the discussion on the difference between actor and star has been on for years as many find it hard to differentiate, unlike others, while there are still others who believe that they are one. Bollywood actor turned yoga expert Anu Aggarwal agrees that a star and an actor are different. She then goes on to explain her viewpoint. “Yes, it is correct that the entertainment industry has changed, but only for the better as it depicts growth. I see it as progressive. In my view, an actor and a star have always been different as you know the treatment meted out to both has never been the same,” she says.
While the opportunities are plenty, so is the competition in the industry right now, feels Anu. This is probably the reason why the actor and star difference is not that prominent. Also, OTT has changed the game for many. “I think opportunities and competition are a part and parcel of any job. One needs to understand and work things out accordingly,” she adds.

A Variety of projects are being made in Bollywood, OTT and TV. Even music videos and short films are in the works. An actor today is spoilt for choice and sometimes fails to understand how and what can be done. “Actors need to be realistic. I always say that to all newcomers. Hard work, perseverance and patience are much required,” she shares.
The whole discussion around how knowing someone in showbiz helps one get through good projects is a never-ending debate. In spite of having personal managers and talent management companies, people are getting work more by references and personal equations. Knowing someone always helps. “People do get work by word of mouth and that is not new. Managers, talent management companies are useful as they help organize actors lives and actors need to know their job how to act”, she ends.
