Ginnie Virdi, who has been a part of shows like Udann and Papa By Chance, is currently on a break from work to focus on her personal life. She had an arranged marriage with Parminder Singh Malhi, a lawyer by profession, in January 2017. However, the relationship has kaput and the actress is currently busy picking up broken pieces of her life. She has been living separately from her husband with her two-year-old daughter, Eve, for the past year. Ginnie says, “I am dealing with the most unfortunate episode of my life. I had an arranged marriage with Parminder on January 1, 2017. However, differences cropped up soon owing to his drinking problem and anger issues, which further escalated when I suffered a miscarriage in 2018. He ignored me when I needed him the most, as I was in mental agony. Around that time, I also got to know that my husband was married earlier, but he and his family hid it from me.”

Moving past the difficult phase, Ginnie embraced motherhood and was blessed with a baby girl in February 2020. She says, “We had gone to Canada for my delivery, as my husband’s elder brother lives there and returned to India in August that year. I tried to adjust to my husband’s erratic behaviour but things were going out of my hands. I figured that he had started to cheat on me. Things finally came to a head when he beat me up over something as petty as heating water for my child. This was just seven days after my delivery. He slapped and pushed me while I was holding my baby. On another occasion, he assaulted me and threw my child on the floor. It could have been fatal for my child * For her safety and mine, I called the police, and they registered an FIR against him on October 5, 2021.”

She accused him of assault and intimidation. She says, “I moved to my parents’ place along with my daughter and have been living separately from him for the past year. The case is in court and I will file for divorce soon.” Ginnie now wants to get back to work in order to secure her daughter’s future. She shares, “I had quit acting to enjoy my married life, which wasn’t meant to be. I have no source of income and am dependent on my brothers and parents. I have even borrowed money from a friend called Susheel Parashar.  I am giving auditions and am positive that something will materialize soon.”
