Sudha Chandran who is a well-known actress in Bollywood and on TV has a strong viewpoint on Youth. Today is International Youth Day. On being asked what are the issues which should be addressed, she says, “Due to technological advancements, kids today are dealing with problems. While certain concerns are not particularly new, some of the difficulties that young people experience have changed or been increased by electronic media. Youth needs to be guided towards choosing the right career. Career guidance and counseling sessions should be far more in school as well as in colleges. They need to be educated that everything including success doesn’t come in one day. And other than this I think Social Media can be great ways for youth to connect with one another, but social media can be problematic for several reasons. They have become emotionally very unstable. They live in this virtual world rather than the real world. The youth may deal with a wide range of insecurities, and when they don’t know how to handle them, they get depressed. I believe we must concentrate on the emotional stability and development of our young people because that is the only way to build a culture that upholds moral principles”. She further adds, “A good support system is needed by everyone and one must strike a balance in every possible way”. Well Sudhaji your words of wisdom are surely worth a thought!
