The Blender’s Pride Fashion Tour showcased the Spring Summer collection 2019 of ‘Guldastah’ by Rohit Bal. Guldastah means a bouquet of flowers, and the collection was inspired by the ‘Flowers of Kashmir’. The event emerged with mellifluous classical music in the melodious voice of Shubha Mudgal. The show was gracefully opened by Diana Penty wearing a flared white skirt and a cropped flat cape over it. The style was very Indian classical, yet had a tinge of Victorian to it.

The collection included sarees, lehengas, anarkalis, jackets and gowns. Bal used fabrics like cotton silk blends, chanderis, silk organzas, silks and velvets for the garments, and had flowers and animal motifs all over. The palette included colours like ivory and whites, blacks, greys, ruby reds with some golden dominating all these colours. The garments had ornate thread embroidery, zardosi work on it.

The silhouettes were highly feminine, yet empowering. The bandhgala jackets with lehengas gave us the vibe of androgynous clothing in a very classic way. The garments were full sleeved and looked classy. The white-on-white and black-on-black combinations looked absolutely alluring. The overall style was minimalistic, without any extras (jewellery or accessories). The make-up was only about dramatic red lipsticks and lush lashes. The hair was dressed into buns and accessorised with red, white and golden roses, according to the garments.

The men’s clothing included dhoti pants and bandhgala suits. The hues were similar but the prints added a spark. Sidharth Malhotra was the show-stopper and wore a long black velvet kurta with elephant motifs. The motifs added a royal touch to the garments. The printed pants and plain kurtas absolutely have our heart. Some of the looks in white were combined with turbans with golden floral prints on it.

The show was closed by Sidharth Malhotra and Diana Penty walking together with Rohit Bal, celebrating the victory of this amazing, magnificent and regal show.
