AR Rahman, Adnan Sami, Kanika Kapoor, Armaan Mallik and Harshdeep Kaur come together for The Voice Season 3

Indian musical legend AR Rahman is all set to make a debut on Indian television. The music maestro will be the super guru on the show, The Voice Season 3, along with coaches – Adnan Sami, Kanika Kapoor, Armaan Mallik and Harshdeep Kaur. The music-based talent show will go on air from February 2 on Star Plus.

Talking about coming back to coaching on a reality show after a long hiatus, senior-most judge Adnan Sami said it was the concept of the show which he couldn’t refuse. Sami spoke about how other show formats often see a shift in focus from the voice to other parallels of the contestant – personality, looks, screen-presence. But with The Voice and the blind auditions, everything is centred purely around the voice and you don’t know how the person looks till only you have pressed the buzzer and turned around. There is no compromise on the voice and that’s what makes it special for him. He added how everything else can be trained and taught but the voice is truly god’s gift and very special.

Co-judge Kanika Kapoor fresh back from her holidays with family in London expressed how excited she was to be part of this project and reminisced about how they have been on stage all this time and now they take a back seat and coach and nurture the talent on stage. Kanika sounded very excited for this new journey with great coaches, contestants and the legend himself AR Rahman. She also added how the contestants are nervous about performing in front of Rahman Sir, but they also realise it’s a once-in-a-lifetime kind of opportunity.

Singer and the youngest judge Armaan Mallik said he was very excited to join the talented judges and the contestants. Speaking about the show Mallik said, “Mere liye yeh bahut hi naya journey hai yeh, main khud ek contestant rah chuka hun ek reality show pe aur ye pehle baar hair hai ki main ek coach aur judge ke roop main aa raha hoon. Mere family aur mere liye yeh bahut hi garv ki baat hai.” Excited to show his new avatar to his fans Armaan also added how he does relate to the contestants since he has been there himself. Also adding the fact that he is learning Urdu from ustaad Adnan saying the whole environment on set is musical to say the least.
