Bollywood welcomed Kareena Kapoor Khan back in 2000, when she made her big screen debut opposite Abhishek Bachchan in Refugee. From hard-hitting and award-winning performances to winning hearts with lovable characters, Bebo’s done it all with utter ease since her debut back then. Yesterday, the actress completed 19 years in the industry and to celebrate it, let’s take a look at some of her most-loved roles:

# Poo in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Ghum: This has to be one of the most-defining roles that Kareena essayed on the big screen as a ‘heroine’ that stamped her position among the top actresses. Her dialogues like ‘Tumhe koi haq nahin ki tum itni sundar dikho’ are still a fave of girls across generations, who aspire to bring out the Poo in them.

# Geet in Jab We Met: If you want to live your life, live it like Geet from Jab We Met. Kareena’s character graph as Geet in the Imtiaz Ali film transcends from a being a happy-go-lucky girl to being heartbroken and Kareena nailed her role with aplomb. The character continues to be one of the most-loved ones on the Indian screens.

# Princess Kaurwaki in Asoka: Kareena in the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Asoka was a sight to behold. She essayed the role of a princess gracefully and her sizzling chemistry with Shah Rukh was captivating.

# Chameli in Chameli: Kareena Kapoor made a bold career move and essayed the role of a commercial sex-worker in Chameli. She gave up her glam look and even researched about sex-workers in Mumbai by visiting a few red-light areas to get into the character. Chameli is one of her best performances and her dialogues like ‘Yehi life hai, sahab’ and the red saree with her red and blue blouse will forever remain etched in the audience’s hearts.

# Pia in 3 Idiots: Kareena’s nerdy character who falls in love with Aamir Khan’s character is definitely one of our favourites. Her red scooter, her iconic dialogues about Gujarati food and the fun layers of her character was gracefully portrayed by Kareena. Her chemistry with Aamir Khan was much liked too and how can we forget her riding the scooter in a bridal avatar at the end of the movie!

# Mahi in Heroine: Mahi, who is a famous actress, starts losing the grip of her life after her married star-boyfriend refuses to honour the marital commitments made to her. The pain and the slow process of her downfall was beautifully portrayed by Bebo. Although the film tanked at the box office, Kareena was applauded for her bold role.

# Kalindi in Veere Di Wedding: Kareena’s life saw a major change when she became a mother to the cute little munchkin Taimur. The actress, who was already balancing her professional life with her married life like a pro, further upped her A-game like a Boss. Her Veere Di Wedding proved just that. As Kalindi, she and her girl-gang were an absolute delight on screen.

Currently too, Kareena has several biggies in her kitty – Takth, Good News, Laal Singh Chaddha, Angrezi Medium – to name a few. And all this, while she continues to make time for her mommy and wife duties too. Well, she does make for a poster-girl for all ‘heroines’ then, doesn’t she?
