Henna BrarThe 61st Grammy Awards commenced at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles and it was a star-studded affair like no other. With Alicia Keys as the host for the night and almost the entire music industry in attendance including – Lady Gaga, Cardi B, Drake, veteran Dolly Parton, Jorja Smith amongst many other stars – it was surely a night to remember. The awards event also saw many firsts. Cardi B became the first woman to ever win the Best Rap Album. Childish Gambino’s This Is America won four Grammys, including record of the year; Ariana Grande won her first Grammy for Best Pop Vocals for Sweetener.
Representing India was music genius AR Rahman, who was seen in attendance with his family. The Oscar-winning producer/composer Rahman took to Instagram to share some pictures from the night. Looking sharp in formal wear, he was joined by his younger daughter Raheema Rahman with whom he took pictures and shared on social media. Check out the pics:
AR Rahman’s older daughter Khatija was in the headlines recently over her appearance with her father at an event where they were celebrating 10 years of Slumdog Millionaire. The father-daughter duo took to the stage and was rather endearing to see. But the social media trolls had other plans, and trolled Khatija over wearing a burqa at the event. When the trolling didn’t stop Rahman decided to step in and gave it back to the trolls. Rahman captioned an image he shared with the hashtag #freedomtochoose that shut-up the trolls for good. Khatija too replied in a very humble way.
