Jaina ShahOne of the major supporters of the LGBTQIA+ Community, actress Richa Chadha, has always stood up for their rights. Recently, she was also chosen as the face of India’s leading LGBTQ NGO Humsafar Trust to inaugurate India’s first ever holistic medical centre for the people of the community, to help them break away from the stigmas of general discrimination they face.
Having strong opinions and thoughts has made Richa an international figure to be the jury member of many international film festivals or forums. Besides, she has also been a part of many global conversations, out of which, one is about the ongoing Pride Month that is celebrated every June across the world. The month marks the celebration of the pride flag, the LGBTQ community and the lives of all its members.
Talking about the same, Richa said in a statement, “A month dedicated to the LGBTQ community gives us an opportunity to bring up this conversation. Now the Draconian 377 has been repealed, slowly and steadily we can aim at removing social prejudice. It’s an honor for me to be considered by the US Consulate in India as a supporter of this movement.”
Due to her constant support, the US consulate asked her to do a special promotion of Pride Month in India. Richa will be seen leading the way for the cause and they’ll be using digital platforms and social media for the same. We are sure, Richa, along with the US consulate would succeed in spreading awareness. For more news and updates, stay tuned to CineBlitz.
