5th August 2021 will have a major significance for Jammu and Kashmir as Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha had launched J & K film policy 2021. The film policy will not only work for the cinema but also the development and welfare of J&K.

In a recent interview with Mohit Mattoo who belongs to J& K said he is optimistic about the J& K film policy. He is grateful to Manoj Sinha and other dignitaries because of whom this happened. He further said he is close to his homeland and the people of J&K have always supported, blessed and encouraged him in his journey. But to fulfill his dreams, I had to move to Mumbai as there are only a few Cinema theatres in Jammu, and Kashmir does not have any. It is quite shocking for a nation where cinema covers a significant part. Due to this, an artist doesn’t enjoy freedom. If anyone from J&K dreams of becoming an artist, he has to move to other parts of the nation to fulfill his dream. The film policy will bring development and opportunities in J&K. The whole film fraternity has been involved in the making of this policy.

There will be a single-window clearance where no one has to wander here and there for permission whether they belong to J&K or not. There will be a talent directory for all the artists of J& K, this will bring opportunity and preference for J&K people.J&K tourism has also worked hard in this policymaking. They will prepare a directory for locations that will ease the work of the filmmakers. This policy will also bring employment opportunities for those who are into wrong deeds. Tourism and employment opportunities will undoubtedly grow with this film policy. Many filmmakers like Yash Chopra Sahab have brought Kashmir on the silver screen. Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Shikara was also shot in Kashmir. Films like Kashmir ki kali, Banjrangi Bhaijaan, Razzi and many more were shot in Kashmir.

These opportunities will be for the J&K people. I have also decided to bring Kashmir close to the theatre and provide opportunities to its people. These people have always loved and supported and now it’s payback time.J&K doesn’t have a scarcity of talent. As a consequence of the lack of resources, many talented people of the valley couldn’t showcase their talent. Film policy will open doors of opportunities for J& K people. I am grateful to Amir Khan and Raju Hirani for their active participation in the making of the film policy. I wanted to include Kashmir and Kashmiri talent in every upcoming project. Due to the lack of resources and opportunity, which we had faced for our livelihood, I don’t want the coming generation to go through this. When one can earn bread in their homeland, no one has to migrate to other places.

I have completed my film appreciation from FTII Pune and am associated with NFDC in most of the events. I have seen how these institution is keeping cinema secured.NFDC has brought a film felicitation office. I want to thank the National film development corporation Of India because Gujarat has emerged out as a film tourism-rich state. UP CM Yogi Adityanath has also encouraged its people for the film and its policy. I hope J & K film policy also flourish in the coming days. I want to thank the Film Felicitation office, National Film Development Corporation of India and Film division on this occasion.
