Bank balance, memes, fashion choices – Akshay Kumar’s interview with PM Narendra Modi was interesting on many levels

Akshay Kumar took a giant leap as he turned interviewer for the first time! Remember the superstar had tweeted that he is going to try something new? And we had told you how he was going to interview Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. But it was not just another usual politics-based-serious-interview! Akshay Kumar really had some interesting questions and it was a really fun-filled chat, with the aim to know Narendra Modi more. In fact, the whole interview was really interesting, on several levels. Why do we say so?

# From the outset, Akshay Kumar kept the interview light. His first question was a suggestion that he got from his driver’s daughter. She wanted to know if Narendra Modi likes mangoes and hence, he asked him that. Modi revealed that he loves eating the fruit.

# When Akshay Kumar asked the Indian PM if he ever thought he’d be appointed as the Prime Minister, Modi revealed that he never thought about it in his wildest dreams. In fact, he still gets surprised by the love that people shower on him.

# ‘Does Modi get angry? ‘ asked Akki, but to his surprise, the PM said while he does get upset inside, he never shows it to anyone. The politician also played down reports that he is a strict administrator, though he expects everyone to follow orders and do their work.

# Akshay Kumar also asked Narendra Modi if he ever feels like calling his family and staying with them? The Prime Minister revealed that he had left home so early, that the thought doesn’t come to him ever. Though he does call his mother over, from time to time.

# Narendra Modi also revealed that he does not use his mobile phone when he is with someone. He dedicates his whole time and attention to the person he is with and hence, he expects everyone to follow the same thing in meetings.

# Akshay’s next question about having friends in other parties was interesting too. While everyone feels politicians from opposition parties can never be friends, Modiji played down all these thoughts. He said he has many friends in the opposition party and they meet quite often and have dinner together too.

# Narendra Modi also mentioned how Mamata Didi (Mamata Banerjee) sends him one or two hand-picked kurtas every year.

# Akshay Kumar also asked PM Narendra Modi’s bank balance! Yes, the actor asked THE question everyone would want to know, however, the Prime Minister revealed that he doesn’t look at his accounts.

# In fact, he revealed that his first bank account was in Dena Bank when he was a kid. He had not put any money in it and the bankers were trying to get in touch with him but didn’t know where he was till he became an MLA. He further revealed that his first actual account was opened after he became an MLA. All his monthly salary used to be deposited in it and he never saw his account, his staff used to see it.

That’s when Akshay Kumar said that he had heard about the PM donating the Rs 21 lakh that he earned during his reign in Gujarat. But Modiji cut him and said, that it’s just half the truth. He said that when he was leaving Gujarat and coming to Delhi to take over as the Prime Minister, he wanted to give out all the money he had in his account. But the officers convinced him not to, they said he might not need it now, but he has so many court cases and everything going on, he might need it in the future. So he gave a part of his savings, that is Rs 21 lakh to the members of his team and told them to give it to the drivers, office staff and everyone, so that they can use it to educate their children, especially the girls.

# Narendra Modi also spoke about how he plans to give a disputed land in his name to the party. This made Akshay Kumar ask him if he is really a Gujarati, as they are generally very good with money and property. Both of them went on to crack a few jokes, before walking out into the lawn for the second part of the chat.

# Akshay asked Modiji what he would do after retirement? To which, the PM said that he doesn’t know what will happen or what he will do, but he will engage himself in some or the other mission.

# Akshay Kumar also asked Narendra Modi about his sleeping habits, to which the politician said that his sleep gets over in 3 – 4 hours and it has become a routine. Former American President Barack Obama had also told him to change his habit, but he is the same.

# Akshay Kumar also asked him what he takes when he is unwell, yes, that was a legit question he asked. To which, Modiji said, “I didn’t know what is doctor and medicines till a long time.” He further revealed that he takes warm water, mustard oil (heated) when he is unwell and fasts for a day or two.

# Akshay Kumar and Prime Minister Modi also opened up about fashion and the politician revealed that he loved to be presentable and he used to wash his own clothes till he became the Gujarat Chief Minister.

# Modiji also spoke about keeping a track of what is being said on social media and that he comes to a lot about the world through it. He even added that he keeps a tab on Akshay’s Twitter as well as Twinkle’s page. He goes on to say that the anger she diverts towards him must be helping their life as she removes all her anger on him. That way he must have helped Akshay.

# The actor also asked Narendra Modi if he sees the memes made on him and Akki also showed him a few. The politician revealed that he enjoys them, in fact, he sees less of Modi in them and more of the creativity.

# Modiji further revealed that he or the government doesn’t bear any cost of his family. But whenever he goes home, his mother still gives him money.

# Akshay asked him if he watches films, to which the Prime Minister said that he used to watch when he was a kid, but now he doesn’t get time. In fact, he couldn’t see Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, but he told everyone to watch it as it had a great message.
