Ameesha Patel summoned by Ranchi Court in relation to a fraud case

Ameesha Patel produced Bollywood film, Desi Magic has been in the making since 2013. While in 2014, a teaser of the film was also released, the film never saw the light of the day. However, recently it was said that Desi Magic would release in January 2019, marking Ameesha Patel’s comeback to the big screen, but that also never happened. Things didn’t go as planned for the actress and she was accused of taking money from filmmaker Ajay Kumar Singh. According to his accusations, she had taken Rs 2.5 crores and never returned back owing to which he moved to the Ranchi Court.

According to the reports, the cheque given by the actress and her business partner bounced due to which a case was filed. Ajay was reported saying “We have filed a case in a Ranchi court after a cheque of Rs 3 crore bounced. She has not been responding to anything with regard to the money she borrowed from me last year for the release of a film named Desi Magic. Now she has been summoned by the court and she has to appear before the court on July 8.” He also added, “If she doesn’t come, a warrant will be issued against her. We went to court on June 17 with the request to issue a warrant since she is not responding, but the judge suggested sending a summon before an arrest warrant.”

Ajay claimed that he had helped Ameesha when her project got stuck due to financial crisis. He said “Initially, I was told that the film will release in June (this year). Then I was told that it will release in September. But I will get my money with interest by September. Though I was given a cheque of Rs 3 crore, it bounced. When I tried to do a follow-up, her whole attitude changed and she said I am a small investor and I should keep quiet.”

Now it is said that the film will release in September this year. The film also stars Sahil Shroff, Zayed Khan and Esha Gupta. As for producer Ajay Kumar Singh, he has been busy producing his upcoming movie Family of Thakurganj starring Jimmy Shergill which is all set to release on July 19 this year.
