Amitabh Bachchan to receive this year’s Dadasaheb Phalke award

Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan has been honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke award this year. The announcement of his name was made by information and broadcasting minister Prakash Javdekar on social media. The minister took to twitter and wrote, “The legend Amitabh Bachchan who entertained and inspired for two generations has been selected unanimously for Dadasaheb Phalke Award. The entire country and the international community is happy. My heartiest congratulations to him.”

The actor’s children couldn’t contain their happiness once they heard about Bachchan being conferred with the Phalke award. Abhishek posted, “Overjoyed and so so proud. Proud Son.”

Shweta Bachchan was almost in tears. She wrote on Instagram, “Uncontainable excitement, pride, tears, and general hysteria!!! Congratulations Papa.”

Some of Bachchan’s co-stars like Anil Kapoor who was probably the first one to react posted, “There is no mention of Indian cinema without this Legend! He has redefined cinema with every role & deserves every accolade for his innumerable contributions! Congratulations.“

Rajnikanth who has also worked with Bachchan and has immense respect for the legendary actor posted a short message on twitter, he wrote, “Congratulations dear @SrBachchan ji !!! You richly deserve this commendable honour !!!!”

Karan Johar who has directed Bachchan in two films also took to social media and wrote, “The most inspiring legend of Indian Cinema. He is a bonafide rock star. I am honoured and proud to be in the era of Amitabh Bachchan.”
