Ananya-Panday-Debut-Film

Ananya Panday is days away from making her big screen debut in the Punit Malhotra-directed Student of the Year 2. The film stars Tiger Shroff and also marks the debut of another newbie Tara Sutaria. Ananya, naturally, making her Bollywood debut in the Karan Johar-produced film has been the talk of the town and the industry ever since SOTY 2 was first announced. But we have now exclusively learnt that Ananya Panday was in fact directed by Karan Johar for another film in her first ever shot for the big screen. Yes that’s right. Read on to know more about this film.

In an exclusive interview with CineBlitz, Ananya revealed that she along with her best friend Suhana Khan (Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter) were actually directed by Karan Johar in the SRK-starrer My Name is Khan. “Suhana and I had gone on the sets of My name is Khan and Kana was shooting the film and they didn’t have enough people to pass in the background. So, we decided to do it and I even remember I was wearing this pink jacket… We were like 12 or something I think. It was a crowd scene and Suhana and I offered to be a part of the crowd. They took almost 15 takes and we were more than happy doing it. In fact, we even shot the scene where Suhana and I are walking with each other and turn at one point, and nearly strike a pose, give people a moment of us before merging with the crowds. So technically, my first ever shot on camera was taken by Karan Johar, which I can say so proudly,” reveals Ananya.

However, she adds that both the girls were shocked to see that their special cameos had been edited out of the film’s final cut. “So we were waiting for the scene to come and we kept waiting and waiting, that now we will come, but the scene had simply been cut out,” laughs Ananya, while adding that she was upset about the chopped out scene from the film, “yes, we were so sad as we both were looking forward to seeing ourselves on the big screen.”

But we guess, it has all been worth the wait for Ananya, who admits that she couldn’t have thought of a better debut. “So, yes, luckily my debut is still SOTY 2 only, but I was supposed to be in My Name is Khan,” adds Ananya. SOTY 2 whose songs and trailer has been hitting home with the audience and the movie-lovers, is set to release on May 10.
