Anees Bazmee’s daughter Saba files FIR against husband for domestic abuse and harassment for dowry

Anees Bazmee’s daughter Saba Shaikh (26) has lodged a complaint against her husband Mohammed Wasim Shaikh (29) and in-laws alleging dowry harassment. She filed the complaint against them on February 06 after she found that her ornaments and expensive designer clothes totaling over Rs 40 lakh were missing. Post this complaint, the Oshiwara police have filed an FIR (First Information Report) against the accused and his family. Several charges under the Indian Penal Code have been filed against Wasim and his family, including 498 (A) for domestic abuse and harassment. Refusing to divulge any details, the police have informed that the investigation is underway.

According to the report, the demands made by Wasim and his family, included a dowry of Rs 25 lakh. They even asked for a lead role for her husband in her father’s film. In fact, the primary reason of the marriage was because Saba’s father was a well-known producer.. Tired of the constant harassment and mental anguish that she had to face over dowry issues, Saba moved back to her parent’s house last year. Back then, Saba had left her husband’s home without taking her clothes and ornaments.

However on January 23 this year, Saba came across a model’s photo on the social media. What caught her attention was that the Brazilian model was wearing the expensive clothes that Bazmee had given her. Wanting clarification, she visited her husband’s Millat Nagar house in Andheri (West). Her in-laws did not allow Saba to enter the bedroom and even abused her. She then called the police for help. Upon entering the bedroom, she found Wasim and the model together.

Reports reveal that Saba’s marital woes had begun barely eight months into her marriage. At the wedding, Bazmee was made to buy ornaments worth Rs 40 lakhs. He was made to pay another Rs 12 lakh towards other household purchases as dowry. However, even after these demands were met, Wasim and his family kept harassing Saba. In the meanwhile, Saba found her husband exchanging lewd messages and emails with a woman. On questioning, she was assaulted numerous times. According to Saba, Wasim also dealt in drugs and at one point she was even forced to consume some of it.
