Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has been openly criticising the man in power Prime Minister Narendra Modi on several occasions now over rape threats to his daughter. The filmmaker’s bio on his Twitter handle reads: ‘Neither Left nor Right or Centre. I am Diagonal’ and his opinions are equally blunt too reflecting his ideologies. After Modi wave took over the nation with a storm post his win yesterday (May 23), Anurag took to Twitter and congratulated PM Modi for his second innings. But he also had a question for him. Anurag’s bold statements and open criticism about the PM have bought him severe backlash. Disturbingly, the backlash has even extended to his daughter. Many alleged ‘bhakts’ have been posting rape threats and derogatory messages on Aaliya Kashyap’s social media handles. Anurag bought this to the netizen’s notice and also tagged the PM. Anurag wrote, “Dear @narendramodi sir. Congratulations on your victory and thank you for the message of inclusiveness. Sir please also tell us how do we deal with these followers of yours who celebrate your victory by threatening my daughter with messages like this for me being your dissenter.” He also attached a screenshot that had a comment that was extremely distasteful and abusive.

Following the thread, filmmaker Ashoke Pandit commented on the tweet expressing his concern but also pointing out that the handle can be photoshopped.
