According to reports, Anurag Kashyap’s upcoming production Womaniya starring Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar was shelved due to budget constraints. However, the filmmaker took to Twitter to vehemently deny the film being put on the back-burner. In fact, Anurag also revealed that the film will now be produced by Reliance Entertainment and will go on floor on February 10. To be directed by Tushar Hiranandani, Womaniya is based on Uttar Pradesh’s octogenarian sharpshooters Chandro and Prakashi Tomar. The film is going to be shot in Uttar Pradesh and for their roles, Taapsee and Bhumi are undergoing a month-long rigorous training with antique weapons.

It may be recalled that Kashyap’s production house Phantom Films had been dissolved in October last year (2018) following sexual allegations against co-founder Vikas Bahl. The reports claimed that since Bahl’s exit, Kashyap has been struggling to keep some of his projects afloat. As for Womaniya, producers Shibasish Sarkar and Nidhi Parmar were said to be backing him, say reports. However, with the budgets threatening to overshoot, it was becoming a more difficult project to execute, claim reports. However, Kashyap has denied these reports saying that the film will be produced by Reliance Entertainment and go on floor on February 10. Check out his tweet here:

Meanwhile, there’s also buzz that due to the constant delay in the film, both Taapsee and Bhumi have reallocated their dates kept aside for Womaniya to other projects. So, it may not be easy to co-ordinate and reschedule the dates of the two actresses again. Both Taapsee and Bhumi have a busy year ahead. Taapsee has Mission Mangal and Badla, while Bhumi has Sonchiriya, Dolly Kitty Aur Wog Chamakte Sitare and Takht. Interestingly, Sonchiriya will also see Bhumi in a very rustic avatar, much like Womaniya.
