Anushka Sharma is one of the most bankable names in the industry right now. She shut up everyone’s when she entered Bollywood without a filmy background and carved her way to success. From being a shy girl in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi to doing some impressive action scenes in NH10, the actress has time and again proved her versatility. Anushka has a huge fan following and she has always impressed her fans with her varied performances. Today (May 1), as the actress turns 32, we decided to look at 7 of her iconic roles that prove that she is a badass actor.
#Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi: This film marked Anushka’s debut. Shah Rukh Khan and the team of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi were despairingly finding a fresh face to cast alongside King Khan and that’s when they spotted Anushka. Let’s agree they made the right choice. Not choosing a very glam role for her debut, the actress essayed the role of Taani Sahani (who is widowed on her wedding day) and her love story with Shah Rukh Khan’s character was an absolute delight.
# PK: Jagat Jaggu Janini was another amazing performance delivered by Anushka. The film, that subtly mocked religious beliefs, superstitions and many more such things had Anushka in a fresh avatar. Her character needed depth and Anushka did full justice to the character. Her on-screen chemistry with Aamir Khan aka PK was also quite fun to watch.
# NH10: Not constraining herself into just a genre, Anushka experimented with her next role. She was seen in a rather rough-and-tough role in NH10. Also starring Neil Bhooplam, the film belonged to Anushka. Her screen presence as a woman lost in an unknown land and the way her character faces the brutal consequences made the film very convincing. She even ventured into production with this film.
#Aae Dil Hai Mushkil: Alizeh was given life by Anushka and let’s admit it, no one else could have made the character look so good. Cutely telling her audience what love and friendship, the actress added a whole bunch of new fans to her already huge list. Her chemistry with Ranbir and Fawad Khan was amazing and her character etched a special place in people’s heart.
#Pari: Anushka’s fans were in for a scary surprise when they went to see this film. Anushka changed the face of horror films with this offering of hers. Not many actresses have taken up such frightful avatars and essay the role of paranormal entity. Her character was a perfect balance of innocence and fright and Anushka truly proved her worth once again with this film.
#Sanju: Although Anushka made a few appearances in the film but her character couldn’t go unnoticed. This also became her second film in the same year. Essaying the role of a journalist Winne Diaz, her look was very amusing.
#Sui Dhaaga – Made In India: This film became Anushka’s third film to release in the same year. For this Varun Dhawan starrer film, Anushka ditched the glam look and her chemistry with Varun was very vibrant and compelling. Her character Mamta also became the target for some really funny memes and will forever be remembered by the audience.
Well, these were our pick of iconic roles that Anushka stepped into till now. Apart from this, the actress even has a successful clothing line and has made it to the Forbes List many times. She currently is enjoying her time-off with hubby Virat Kohli and still has to announce her next film after Aanand L Rai’s Zero. We at CineBlitz wish the talented actress a very happy birthday.
