After earning a spot among the top Bollywood actresses, Anushka Sharma has also proven her mettle as a producer. Last year (2018) the star had as many as four releases as an actor – Pari, Sui Dhaaga, Sanju and Zero – and one – Pari – as a producer. Of these, Sanju went on to break box office records, while Sui Dhaaga earned her much appreciation from the critics and fans. Having produced three films already – including the acclaimed NH10 – the star-producer is ready to take the next step in filmmaking. Trade is abuzz about the star now turning director. And her first directorial project will be for her home production, say insiders.
While insiders are tight-lipped about the genre or any details about the project, buzz indicates that the film will be produced by her and she is currently working on the script of the film. In fact, that is also why the star is in no rush to sign too many films. Insiders say that the actress has been toying with the idea for quite some time now and with her cinematic sensibilities, she may actually want to direct a lesser-touched subject. However, there’s no confirmation yet about when the project will finally materialise or who are being considered for the film.
Anushka Sharma, whose last big screen outing – Aanand L Rai’s Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Zero failed to set the box office on fire, was until recently busy travelling with cricketer husband Virat Kohli and attending his matches. The actress’ earlier Sui Dhaaga with Varun Dhawan hit home with the critics, and it may be recalled that her sari-clad look from the film spawned dozens of memes on the Internet.
