Hasti DoshiArticle 15 in the Constitution of India clearly states that no person shall be discriminated on the basis of caste, class, creed and religion. However, we all are aware of how discrimination on basis of these factors is still prevalent in some parts of our country. Ayushmann Khurrana’s upcoming hard-hitting film Article 15 addresses these issues at large. And though the trailer of the film has impressed many, at the same time it has apparently even upset some Brahmin communities over their portrayal in the film.
The film has been shot in Lucknow and the Brahmins in Uttar Pradesh are upset that the story will defame their community. The trailer shows the dead bodies of two young girls hanging from a tree suggesting that they may have been raped and murdered. The poor girls’ families work as labourers and they were punished for demanding a hike of Rs three as their daily wages. It is this projection of Brahmins that seems to have upset them.
In Article 15, Ayushmann plays the role of a top-cop. The film deals with caste politics and is directed by Anubhav Sinha. The film releases on June 28. Stay tuned to CineBlitz for more news and updates from Bollywood.
