Asha Parekh to be honored at the 19th Third Eye Asian Festival

The Third Eye Asian Festival organized by the Asian Film Foundation is starting from December 12 in Mumbai. Mr. This is the 19th year of this festival which started in 2002 under the guidance of Sudhir Nandgaonkar. Film lovers in Mumbai get an opportunity to watch contemporary films from Asia through this festival. This is the only film festival of its kind. This festival, which is being held with the support of Maharashtra Government, has received special support from Prabhat Chitra Mandal. Thirty internationally acclaimed films from various Asian countries such as Iran, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka will be screened in this festival, which will be organized at P. L. Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy between December 12 and December 18, 2022.

The festival will be inaugurated on December 12 at 7 pm in the mini theater of P. L. Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy. On this occasion, Mrs. Asha Parekh, who was honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, will be honored. The festival will be inaugurated with the Sri Lankan film ‘The Newspaper’ directed by Sarath Kothalawal and Kumara Thirimadura. The film Aparajito directed by Anik Dutta will be screened at the ceremony.

Six Sri Lankan films will be screened in the country focus section and for the first time there will be a special section of Gujarati films in the festival. National award winner Hellaro directed by Abhishek Shah will be the special attraction of this section. Gujarati films Dhad, 21 MU Tiffin, Reva, Aa Che Maru Gaon are included in this category.

Bengal, Manipur, Assam, Goa regional films such as Dictionary, Stallone My Pony, God on the Balcony, Kejro are included in the festival and Marathi films such as Funeral, Godakath, Kali Mati, Bharat Maja Desh Hai, Faas will also be screened. As a tribute to late director Sumitra Bhave, Dr. A documentary film Sumitra Bhave Ek Paralan Pravas directed by Santosh Pathare will be screened at the festival.

A short film competition has been organized during the festival. Thirty short films selected from among one hundred and twenty short film entries will be screened at the festival and distinguished judges will announce prizes for two short films. The delegate registration for the festival has started from 5th December at Rabindra Natya Mandir and the delegate fee is Rs. 500/ and Rs 300/ for film society members and students. Online registration for the festival has also started.
