Ayushmann Khurrana and Sanya Mahotra’s Badhaai Ho was one of the best films of 2018. The movie not only impressed the audience, but also raked in the moolah. It was all possible courtesy the fantastic storyline of the film, conceptualised and executed by Chrome Pictures. But even the latest studio to enter into the production space had no clue that it would break into the Rs 200 crore bracket with their first film. In fact, it’s very rare that a production house hits it out of the ballpark with its first film. But that’s what Chrome Pictures founded by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, Aleya Sen and Hemant Bhandari made possible.

However, did you know that the film’s story was initially written for a television commercial? Yes, we aren’t kidding. In fact, director Amit Sharma himself revealed to us while mentioning what he has learned from the success of the film. He shared, “My biggest learning from the success of Badhaai Ho has been that content-driven films, films which have a good storyline are going to work. The story of this film was initially meant for a television commercial, and as luck would have it, that didn’t materialize. The rest is history and it feels surreal that the story we worked on for two years has now crossed 200 crores.”

Talking about Chrome Pictures, Amit further added, “I come from a very simple background. And there is a lot of hard work in making Chrome Pictures a dream come true! It is here that we create many worlds, many realities, touching the hearts of people. We trust audiences will accept genuineness and we have pushed our realities towards that. We are very grateful to them.” What do you guys have to say about Amit Sharma’s honest revelation? Share with us your thoughts in the comments section below!

We all know content is king, so with Chrome Pictures coming equipped with breakthrough ideas, honest storytelling and years of production expertise, it seems like a good time for Indian cinema. As co-founder Aleya Sen revealed, “The beauty of Chrome lies in its unity in variety. We love to experiment with genres, styles and technical methods. Amit, Hemant and I share a similar passion towards filmmaking. The plan is to move ahead with utmost sincerity towards making good, content-driven cinema.”

Known for several advertising campaigns, Chrome Pictures’ foray into cinema with the aim of telling relevant, yet, out-of-the-box stories will surely change the game. The blockbuster success of Badhaai Ho has given it a perfect start. Let’s hope they keep providing us with some stunning movies. In the meantime, stay tuned to Cine Blitz as we get you all the updates from the world of Bollywood right here.

Currently working on the Anurag Kashyap-produced film Saand Ki Annkh, Bhumi is shooting in a remote village in UP, India. While the actress his having fun on the sets, the climate there has been rather harsh for her.

Saand Ki Aankh has been all over the Internet for various reasons since the announcement of the film. We have earlier reported how Bhumi and her co-star Taapsee Pannu have transformed themselves into older characters with the prosthetics. The same alongwith the soaring heat in UP has affected Bhumi’s face. According to reports, a mix of chemicals like latex and adhesive is applied on the faces of both the actresses to make them appear older every day. For Bhumi, what looked like a small rash spread on her entire face and caused burns. But the actress feels that these are her battle marks from a project she has given everything to. “The only thing that I could do was use aloe vera to cool down my skin and face. I could not apply any medicated skin care products because I didn’t know which one would cause further reactions. As an artiste, this film has creatively pushed me and satisfied mw to the fullest. In fact, I am proudly treating my burns as battle marks from a project that I have given my everything to,” Bhumi told a leading daily.

Saand Ki Ankh directed by Tushar Hiranandani is based on the life of real-life shooters Chandro Tomar and her sister-in-law Prakashi Tomar, popularly known as the shooter daadis.
