Andhadhun added another feat to its list of numerous accolades when it got released in China last week titled as ‘Piano Player’. The film, which came out in India last year, not only impressed the critics but it also struck a chord with the audience and got cash registers ringing at the box office. After garnering critical acclaim in India, now the film is wooing the Chinese audience as well with its entertaining yet twisted storyline. The film has been doing well since its release and it’s also the first quirky thriller from Bollywood to have released in China.

The Sriram Raghavan directorial, starring Tabu, Ayushmann Khurrana and Radhika Apte in the lead, has grossed a whopping 14 million USD till now at the Chinese box office which is extremely commendable. Talking about the film’s phenomenal performance, Ajit Andhare, COO of Viacom18 Studios said, “I’m happy to announce that our maiden China release, Andhadhun has fared very well in the market. The Chinese audiences have shown immense love and appreciation for the film and it continues to grow leaps and bounds. Andhadhun is a film I am extremely proud of and we are doing everything with our partners Tang Media to ensure it continues to score at the Chinese BO.” Also, this further cements the Viacom18 studios’ position when it comes to picking up unusual films and creating big success out of them.

JY Lin, International Business Director of Tang Media Partners also added, “We are overjoyed to successfully bring a brand-new genre of Indian movies to China. The process has been tough. Our distribution team has been working over-time, but the result is great & worth it! We look forward to bringing more Indian films to China.” Well, this is great news for all of us and we hope more such films travel to China in the near future as well. In the meantime, stay tuned to CineBlitz for more such updates from the world of Bollywood.
