Henna BrarBeyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter is a global icon and an idol to millions of people of colour and the LGBTQ community. Culture and art can inspire a whole generation, and Beyonce has time and again proved it. Celebrating her awesomeness, Netflix finally dropped the much-awaited documentary, Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé, and, in her true Queen B style, Beyonce announced a surprise along with her documentary. Yes, the surprise is her new album, Homecoming: The Live Album.
Homecoming is a part concert film, part documentary with a behind-the-scenes look at the two-weekend performances which made Beyonce the first black woman to ever headline the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. A perfectionist, she controlled every aspect of her Coachella performance, right down to the beading on the costumes for her monumental performance. There were also guest appearances by her fellow Destiny’s Child members, her sister, Solange, and her husband, rapper Jay-Z.
The documentary has been written, directed and produced by the singer, and shot over eight months. Homecoming is now available on Netflix – check out the trailer! Keep up with the world of entertainment only with CineBlitz.
