Bollywood has given us many war-based action-thrillers over the years and actors like Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar and John Abraham have become everyone’s favourites in this genre. But, more than the actors, it’s the films that have stood out, especially the ones that were based on wars, battlefield trials and war heroes. Uri: The Surgical strike was a massive success, and with that, we can easily conclude that people are interested in such films. And Bollywood, of course, never fails to deliver what the audience demands. So, here is a list of five war-based films that you should look out for:

# Kargil Girl: Janhvi Kapoor amazed everyone with her acting in Dhadak and fans have been waiting for her to announce her next project. So, it took everyone by surprise when the news of her doing a war film broke out. In the film, she will be essaying the role of the first female combat pilot, Gunjan Saxena. She was the first woman to fly into a combat zone during the Kargil War. Well, this sure looks like an interesting story that shouldn’t be missed at any cost. Right?

# Arun Khetarpal’s biopic: Varun Dhawan has given stellar performances in most of his films. After seeing his bad boy side in Badlapur, the audience was more than convinced that he is not just a rom-com hero, but a lot more. Varun will soon be essaying yet another rough-and-tough role in a film which will be based on Arun Khetarpal, who was one of the bravest officers of the Indian Army. At the age of just 21, he fought 7 Pak tanks single-handedly in 1971. The youngest Param Vir Chakra recipient’s story needs to be heard, don’t you think? So, we are hoping that the combination of Varun and Andhadhun director Sriram Raghavan works magic, so we can all cherish Arun Khetarpal’s life story and ultimate sacrifice.

# Udham Singh’s biopic: The Jallianwala Bagh massacre during the British rule is etched in every Indian’s heart, but did you know that a brave soul avenged the wrong as well? Yes, Udham Singh, who was a revolutionary belonging to the Ghadar Party, assassinated Michael O’ Dwyer, the former lieutenant governor of Punjab in India. And guess who will essay the role of this brave heart? It is none other than Vicky Kaushal. Directed by Shoojit Sircar, the film will go on floors soon.

# Vikram Batra’s biopic: Another Kargil martyr that deserves a biopic is Captain Vikram Batra. Although Captain Batra sacrificed his life during the Kargil War, he played a huge part in India’s victory over Pakistan. The film will be produced by Dharma Productions, and Aiyaary actor Sidharth Malhotra will essay the role of this courageous man.

# Bhuj: Leader Vijay Karnik was in charge of Bhuj airport during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. It was his team that reconstructed the destroyed Indian Air Force airstrip at Bhuj in Gujarat with the help of local women. Pakistan had dropped napalm bombs and wrecked the airstrip. It is at this time that Karnik convinced 300 fearless women from a nearby village to help his team rebuild the airstrip so that a flight carrying Indian Army officers could land safely. Karnik, along with two other officers, 50 Air Force members and 60 Defence Security Corps personnel, did a great job of keeping the airbase operational despite heavy Pakistani bombing. We can easily call the incident as India’s ‘Pearl Harbour’ moment. This entire incident will be the key plot of the film Bhuj. Interesting, right? Ajay Devgn, Parineeti Chopra and Sonakshi Sinha will be a part of this great story.
