Breaking news: Will Salman Khan and Deepika Padukone come together for Sanjay Leela Bhansali?

We all know that Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Salman Khan are teaming together 12 years after Saawariya (2007). But when it comes to a full-fledged role in a Bhansali film, Salman had last starred in his Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) almost 20 years ago. It’s hardly surprising then to see that the buzz of them coming together has been generating much excitement among the fans as well as interest in the industry. While speculations are rife that the film will be a romantic drama titled Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam 2, there’s not been any confirmation from the makers. However, what can be confirmed is that SLB is keen on casting Deepika Padukone opposite Salman Khan.

Interestingly, Deepika and Salman is a pair that’s been on the minds of many filmmakers, including SLB himself, but whether due to date issues or scripts the plans have never worked out. In fact, at one point Deepika had openly admitted to wanting to work with Salman. But the pairing never materialised on screen. But now this dream pair may finally come together if Bhansali manages to get Deepika on board. Going by his success rate with the actress right from Goliyon Ki Rasleela: Ram Leela (2013), toBajirao Mastani (2015) and their last year film Padmaavat(2018), it is highly possible that Deepika and Salman may finally star opposite each other.

Meanwhile there’s been buzz about Priyanka Chopra Jonas also being in talks with SLB for a film after she gave ample hints about it on the Karan Johar show Koffee With Karan recently. However, while there were reports about her being approached for a film opposite Salman, the rumours may be untrue as the filmmaker was in talks with her for another project Heera Mandi. Besides, after walking out of Salman’s Bharat a few days before the shoot was to commence, it is unlikely that they may star together even though Salman has openly shared that he is not upset with PeeCee for it.
